There is some controversy over the definition of a MicroBusiness. Many sources list them as businesses having fewer than 5 employees. We tend to think of them more in terms of businesses which have NO employees, as these are the ones that are truly different, and which operate by a completely altered set of needs and possibilities.
Growing Down
Growing Down refers to a process of streamlining and increasing productivity to improve profitability. It does not result in unfair treatment to employees, or in a reduction of quality of products or services.
Cottage Industry
Cottage Industry includes any business in the home, with an emphasis on the manufacture of products. The potential for development of new and unique products, produced in the home, in a small shop, or on the farm, is far beyond what is generally considered by contemporary business consultants.
